The Beauty Of Nightmare

Giorgio De Chirico was a famous artist of the twentieth century.Together with other artists and his friends in the early twentieth century in Italy,a land of ancient traditions and modern civilization,Chirico found the unique "Metaphysical Painting"which has a profound impact on future generations.Like the obscure metaphysical philosophy,Chirico's metaphysical painting is equally perplexing,but impressive as a nightmare.This article attempts to make a theoretical exploration and answer for the interpretation of Chirico's metaphysical painting and its characteristics.This paper is divided into four parts(chapters),which will interpret Chirico's metaphysical paintings in different contexts.In the first chapter,I will review the life and art of Chirico and outline its painting.Secondly,I will start from the familiar philosophical field of Chirico,trying to combine the metaphysical thinking in the western philosophical tradition with Chirico's metaphysical painting and its artistic conception;the third part interprets the collocated elements in the metaphysical painting of Chirico,interprets a seemingly intractable part to show the ideal metaphysical world of Chirieo's painting.Finally from the perspective of history,through the comparison with some modern art factions and ideological trends,the review of related art historical facts,hope to deepen the understanding of Chirico's metaphysical painting.
