In 1987,Hamas was born following the Palestinian first Intifata breaking out across Israeli occupied territories.Confronted with Israeli military occupation,Hamas claimed its political standing in the Covenant, which is radical and firm including: Refuse recognizing Israeli right to survival and legitimacy;Insist on the use of violence against Israel;Reject peaceful means to address conflicts between Palestine and Israel. However, given that long-time armed resistance failed to end the Israel's occupation,Hamas transformed to seek political resolutions to Palestine-Israel issue. In 2005,Hamas announced to participate in Palestinian general election, then taking office the next year. The documents issued during its election campaign demonstrated its political stance had been changed, the most significant of which was acquiescing the existence of Israel. In my view, the weakening of Hamas' political stance was not fortuitous,it was the consequence under long-time constrain of Israel's coercive power. The mechanism behind the weakening was the structural constraints of the Israel's compulsory power,on basis of satisfying the three conditions, would become an established cognitive background of Hamas.Under such circumstance,Hamas would produce the logical response "rebellion useless, obey benefit".This logical response together with the rationality of the actors-maximize their own interests would have a decisive influence on Hamas' s decision-making,then it would eventually choose to move closer to the will of Israel.
