General education is not knowledge, but the person's education. Goal is to cultivate the whole person, freedom of citizens and top creative talent. General education to students of human civilization, especially have a deep understanding of Chinese culture. Aware of himself is a product of traditional civilization and life in traditional civilization: to make students possess modern citizen consciousness and accomplishment, to constructively to participate in social development; To make the students with excellent text reading ability, writing ability in writing,oral expression ability and critical multidimensional thinking ability, to make students have a multidisciplinary perspective and internationalized vision.Today, the Chinese university general education has been through more than 20 years of development, colleges and universities of the general education curriculum system is taking shape. To strengthen and improve the general education, since October 2010, Renmin university of China has started the general education subject general lecture hall, cross-cultural communication, such as public lecture series, around 10 speak every semester, invite experts and scholars on face-to-face. As a supplementary teaching form, adopt the lecture "design project,teacher lecture, students are optional, and interaction between teachers and students" teaching model, played a good role in talent training. Lecture teacher, teacher strong; Topics involved in field widely, content is rich and colorful.At the same time, general education steering is also a process fraught with risk, many colleges and universities to explore and attempt encountered problems and difficulties in all its aspects. Based on this, this paper detailed the history development of general education, to explore the misunderstanding between the general education of colleges and universities in our country, draw lessons from the domestic and foreign general education curriculum implementation experience, puts forward some suitable for reforms in colleges and universities.
