In recent years. Number sense problem more and more be taken seriously. It has become a hot topic in educators both at home and abroad. Studies show that:in elementary school, there is a gradual rise in the development levels of number sense as the grade rises. However, in the aspect of junior middle school students number sense there are seldom studies. The questionnaires investigated some junior school students in Jiaxing, establishment number sense Scale, using analysis of variance, correlation analysis, the comparison of the two statistical methods. This study is to investigated the development of middle school students' number sense. The research focuses on five dimensions, namely, the meaning and size of number, the presentation of number, the understanding of the operation and skilled(to understand the meaning of the operation, function and equivalent expressions),estimate (flexible calculation and choosing the appropriate estimation strategy),the use of appropriate reference to solve problems. The results indicates that:1.Overall, there is a gradual rise in the development levels of junior middle school students number sense as the grade rises. there is a significant difference in the number sense development levels between Grade 7,8 and 9.There are significant differences between any two.2.There is no significant difference in the first dimension among Grades 7,8 and 9.There are significant differences in the second to the fifth dimension.Mean close in the second dimension of 7,9 grade and higher than 8th graders.there is a gradual rise in the third.fourth, fifth dimension as the grade rises.3.The eugenics and the poor, grade 8 and 9 number sense level higher than the grade 7.Grade 7 students number sense level far below the overall average points. There is a significant correlation between eugenics in math test scores and number sense. There is no significant correlation between poor students in math test scores and number sense. There is a significant difference about the number sense development levels between the eugenics and the poor in Grade 7,8 and 9.4.Overall, the eugenics is significantly higher in the level of number sense than the poor students. There is a significant difference in five dimensions between the eugenics and the poor students.5.In eugenics and poor students, and with the increase of the number of grade levels were showing an increasing sense of the trend.6.In each grade, the eugenics is significantly higher in the level of number sense than the poor students.7.There is a significant difference in the first, second and third dimension and no difference in the fourth and fifth dimension between the eugenics and the poor students in Grade 7.There is a significant difference in the second and third dimension and no difference in the first, fourth and fifth dimension between the eugenics and the poor students in Grade 8.There is a significant difference in the first to the fifth dimension between the eugenics and the poor students in Grade 9.
