Research On The Theme Of The US National History Day

America National History Day is a national historical event,whose object are students in grade 6 to 12.Every year National History Day frames students' research within a historical theme and different years have different themes.The theme is chosen for the broad application to world,national or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past.Every student can chose different topics if she/he wants to take part in National History Day.My article based on the past 6 years National History Day themes and focuses on the contents,scopes characteristics,forms and the leanings for our history education,which tries to figure out American mainstream values and something worthy behind these themes,such asmulticulturalism,patriotism and Critical thinking.In fact,we should take a materialist perspective to National History Day themes.It's meaningful to research annual themes,because it can help us to see how the organizing committee cultivates students' values through their historical completions,and but also see America education department's incorrect actions,such as the hegemonies in history teaching.
