Primary school English(grade five)teaching covers a large number of reading,writing and other teaching content.It is a practical problem for all senior English teachers to accomplish the teaching task and achieve the goal of teaching in the limited class time.Mind mapping,as a tool for visualizing the brain's thinking process,is consistent with the human brain's way of thinking.Today,this thinking tool has been widely used in all aspects of life.In some European and American areas,mind map has entered the classroom and integrated into teaching activities,and achieved good results.At the same time,the research on the application of mind map in education has gradually deepened,and has gained some experience and achievements.Therefore,the author proposes the application of mind mapping tools in primary school English teaching,and through the research of teaching design based on mind mapping,we can improve the teaching and learning effect in primary English classroom.The research methods used in this paper are literature research,investigation and action research.The framework of this study: first,by collecting books and literatures about mind mapping at home and abroad,as well as the research and literature on the design of classroom instruction in primary school English,I interpret,sort out and analyze the data.Then,on the basis of multi-intellectual ability,brain science theory and knowledge visualization theory,I summarized the relationship between mind mappings and teaching design,put forward the feasibility of applying mind map tool in instructional design.Next,the author makes a survey of some students and teachers in Shanghai X Primary School,and makes an analysis of the survey,and summarizes the advantages and difficulties of using mind mapping in English teaching in primary school.And in view of these,the author wrote the instructional design and carried it on in the classroom,and in process of teaching,observed the phenomena,found the problems and sought countermeasures in practice.Through a few teaching practice,I have gained a lot of experience.In view of the majority lesson types for the fifth grade are discourse teaching and grammar teaching,I sum up: mind map design strategies based on the lesson types,teaching design strategies based on the mind maps,mind mapping strategies based on the students.By the current situation about mind map used in the classroom teaching,and the problems and difficulties found in teaching,I also gave the suggestions: to improve teachers' skill of mind map drawing,to improve the ability of lesson designing based on the mind maps,meanwhile,to design layered mind mapping exercises.The highlight of this research lies in the teaching goal and the teaching process as a starting point for primary school English teachers to provide how in the teaching process,to guide students to understand and eventually use mind map strategy,guide the students to use the mind map as a learning strategy to improve students' ability of collecting and analyzing knowledge.
