A mind map is a visualization tool of knowledge representation, and a methodof radioactive thinking embodied. Since a mind map is introduced into the field ofeducation, has had a positive effect in the education teaching process. At presenthigh school English vocabulary teaching is informative, grammatical structure ismore complex, large amount of text reading, writing style diversification, made alot of new challenge to teachers and students. A mind map is in the form of visual,effectively organize English knowledge of reading and writing, help teachers toestablish the organic links among the knowledge of English, grasps the overallarchitecture of knowledge, promote the understanding and using of reading andwriting knowledge to the student in word and grammar, has become an importanttool to stimulate students interest in learning English. Therefore, it is necessary toexplore how to introduce mind map tool English teaching in high school, helpteachers teaching and improve students’ learning efficiency.This study analyzes the current domestic and foreign research status of mindmap and mind map in the application of high school English teaching situation,according to the mind map and theory of teaching design, puts forward the modelof high school English teaching design based on mind map. Design stage, throughthe analysis of teaching content, put forward the teaching content analysis model,and design the word, grammar, reading and writing teaching contents by usingmind map. For specific teaching activities, put forward the model of the teachingstrategy of preparation before class (the building a mind map), class interaction (thecommunication of mind map), after-school reflection (the arrangement of mindmap) of method. On this basis, according to the high school English teachingdesign model, the author based on mind mapping the general process of Englishclassroom experimental teaching, through classroom observation, interviews, after-school teachers tracking survey, probes into the mind map in high schoolteaching English words, grammar, reading, and writing. Reveal the mind mappingin the application of high school English teaching is helpful to stimulate students’interest, improve students’understanding of knowledge in English reading andwriting and absorption, and help students to grasp of English overall significance.Research shows that a mind map achieved good effect in high school Englishvocabulary, grammar, reading and writing teaching process,can effectivly helpauxiliary teaching and improve the students’ meaningful learning. Mind map canarouse students’ learning interest, stimulate students’ initiative learning.
