The gateway of China has been opened because of the Opium War in 1842,and the capitalism started to invade China and implant the western political and economic pattern,at the same time,it also made thought infiltration through cultural transmission, and that was done mainly by means of two methods: the preach of the missionary and the inoculation of the missionary school. The citizens have realized the thought filtration of missionary school during 1920 s,and which then caused continuous campaign for withdrawing the missionary right, thus the government began to do a certain extent of control on the missionary school under that influence.Shanghai was liberated in May,1949,the CPC(the Communist Party of China)came up with the corresponding countermeasures in time according to the social environment of Shanghai, and the higher education was reformed first.Due to the particularity of missionary university, hence Shanghai higher education reform reorganized the missionary universities. The reorganization kept the privately-owned nature of missionary university, while its institutional setup, curriculum setting, mode of teaching, management method and other aspects were adjusted thoroughly. The school also has developed a series of ideological& political education courses and political lectures for the purpose of strengthening ideological and political education. When the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out in 1950,the“One-sided” diplomatic policy triggered a new round of thought movement, which then has profoundly influenced the reform of missionary universities. Some of the missionary universities carried out the politics of the current events education, and propagandized the ideology of the new China's government. This text sets Shanghai as an example, and narrates through three chapters the developing history of ideological and political education curriculum in missionary universities during the initial stage of new China. The missionary universities in Shanghai mainly included the six universities below: University of Shanghai,SaintJohn's University,Aurora University,Aurora College for Women,Zhijiang University of Architecture, and Soochow University Law School.Combination has been made between the missionary universities because of the operating funds problem and reform, such as Aurora College for Women has been incorporated into Aurora University, thus this article sets Saint John's University,Aurora University,University of Shanghai,Soochow University Law School and Zhijiang University of Architecture as the main objects of study.
