With the social context of economic development, living standards improvement and family structure narrowed, the emotional needs of the elderly parents gradually aroused people's attention. The study of intergenerational relations shift to emotional research, while the study of intergenerational inambivlence that including conflicting and intimate is increasing attention.Although there are a lot of relevant research in western academia, there are no thematic studies based on large sample survey data.In this paper,I use "China Longitudinal Aging Social Survey(CLASS2012)" data to examine the intergenerational emotions and inambivalence of urban and rural parents to the children. The main body of this study consists of three parts:(1)From the positive emotions, negative emotions and intergenerational inambivlence to describe the basic situation of the elderly intergenerational emotions;(2)Using the Hierarchical linear model to compare differece of the intergenerational emotions that parenst having with sons and daughters;(3)This paper also analyzes the influence of intergenerational support to parents'intergenerational emotion, using the interaction analysis to compare the differences of emotional utility when sons and daughters prodive their parents intergenerational support. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)At present, the urban and rural parents generally have higher positive emotions to their children, and there is no urban-rural difference;however, the existence of intergenerational inambivalence in elderly parents is also confirmed in this study.Urban parents' negative emotions and intergenerational inambivalence for their children are significantly higher than those of rural parents, reflecting the social fact that urban parents give their children more and receive less from their children.(2)The emotional effect of the daughter for the parents is higher than the son, urban and rural parents have higher positive feelings of her daughter, lower negative emotions and intergenerational inambivalence. From the child to provide intergenerational support, daughters provide the more economic support to their parents,in control of living together variable, the economic support is still higher than sons;in the bivariate result, son provide more homework support to their parents, however, there was no statistical difference in providing housework support between the son and the daughter after control of living together variable.(3)Children provide intergenerational support have significant emotional utility to parents, both economic support and homework support obtain can significantly increase the positive emotions of parents, reduce negative emotions and intergenerational inambivalence, and there is no statistical difference between urban and rural areas. The results of the interaction analysis show that the emotional utility from the sons and daughters to provide intergenerational support to the parents is different.Daughters provide intergenerational support that bring more emotional effect than sons, indicating that in the cultural preferences of sons raising the elderly, because daughters provide intergenerational suppor is unexpected behavior that is beyond the cultural norms,so leading to an additional psychological effect on parental emotions.
