Peer Instruction was first proposed by Eric Mazur in 1991,a professor at Harvard University, and applied to a large class of basic physics.Through more than 20 years of research by Mazur and others,it has been proved that Peer Instruction plays a important role in the understanding and mastering of students’physical concepts, and the improvement of their learning interest. The concept of physics is the foundation of physics and the summary of abstract thinking. For the students who have just come into contact with physics,it is difficult to understand and master the physical concept, especially the study of mechanics.Force is an abstract concept, and mechanics is one of the two cornerstones of the junior middle school physics. How to grasp the concept of mechanics, improve the teaching efficiency of mechanics, and lays a solid foundation for the study of physics in senior high school is the focus of attention of Teachers.Based on this, the author attempts to introduce the Peer Instruction in the teaching of junior high school mechanics concepts, and through teaching practice to verify its feasibility and rationality. This text is researched by theory and practice. In the aspect of theory, through comprehensive literature,I have summarized the achievements which the peer instruction has got.And then,a brief introduction and theoretical analysis has been done in teaching steps, the establishment of physics concept test questions, peer discussion and feedback these four aspects. At the same time, according to the conditions of domestic teaching, peer Instruction has been modified accordingly. The focus of this paper is the research of Peer Instruction in physical mechanics in middle school, the research contents are as follows:(1)Case design and analysis:Take the eighth grade in junior high school physics(Ⅱ)—Elastic force as an example, the teaching practice is carried out by the Peer Instruction, which is designed and analyzed from four dimensions:the teaching activity organization, the instruction, the case design and the case analysis.(2)Research on the classroom practice of Peer Instruction:select four grade two classes in one middle school in Erdos City to conduct research. They are respectively experimental classes and control classes.Experimental classes will adopt the Peer Instruction;control classes will adopt the traditional teaching method yet. After class, four classes were tested to examine the students’ grasp of the concept of resilience.(3)A survey of teachers and students’ attitudes towards Peer Instruction:In the form of questionnaire, questionnaire survey was carried out from the two dimensions of satisfaction and the advantages and disadvantages of peer teaching.Through the form of interview, the author carries on the interview to the teachers from the aspects of the advantages, shortcomings and suggestions for improvement. In the basis of the teaching practice,by the way of the comparative analysis of concept test questions, the comparative analysis of the results of in class test, the analysis of students’ satisfaction and both teachers and students about the comments of strengths and weaknesses of the peer instruction to draw the corresponding conclusions:(1)Peer Instruction is a good for students to improve their ability to find out their own faults as well as to boost their comprehension of the physical knowledge, what is more, enhance their problem-solving ability.(2)Peer Instruction can improve the accuracy of one question, especially in the case of moderate difficulty or ones which are in virtue of the experimental tools.(3)Peer Instruction can improve students’ achievement, and students with learning difficulties are more effective than those with excellent results.(4)Peer Instruction increases students’ participation in class, regulates the classroom atmosphere, and stimulates the students’ interest in learning.Based on the above conclusions, this paper verifies the effectiveness and feasibility of Peer Instruction in the teaching of junior middle school, and provides an example for the introduction of peer teaching in the classroom.
