Historically,teaching method is the mainstream teaching method in domestic classroom teaching,which is accepted and used by many educators in China.However,with the continuous updating of educational theory,teaching method which is a teacher-led approach to teaching has been unable to adapt to the development trend of modern education.Therefore,finding a new teaching method has become a problem that must be solved in classroom teaching in our country.In 2001,China launched a new curriculum reform,which requires teachers to focus on cultivating students' learning ability of independence and cooperation,and the new teaching methods should meet this requirement.In 1991,Eric Mazur,a professor at Harvard University in the United States,proposed an interactive teaching method,Peer Instruction,and applied it in his college physics class.Many educators in different regions abroad have conducted in-depth research and practice on the Peer Instruction,and the results have proved that the Peer Instruction can cultivate students' independent and cooperative inquiry ability well,enhance students' understanding of physics knowledge,and enhance their interest in physics learning,which is a very effective teaching method that meets the requirements of China's new curriculum reform.In foreign countries,the study of Peer Instruction has developed for a long time,and the theory and practice of Peer Instruction have been very mature in both universities and middle schools.However,the domestic research on Peer Instruction is still in the primary stage,the theoretical research is not comprehensive and systematic enough,the corresponding teaching practice is also very few,the scope of research is still largely confined to university classrooms,there is very little research on Peer Instruction in middle school.Based on the present situation,the author makes a systematic research onthe teaching design of physics classroom in junior high schools in cities and towns based on the theory of Peer Instruction,hoping to provide some help for the research and practice of Peer Instruction in Chinese middle school physics education.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the research background and significance,research status,research contents and research methods of Peer Instruction.The second chapter mainly introduces the content of Peer Instruction and the definition of related concepts,as well as the theoretical basis of relevant pedagogy,including constructivism theory,proximal development area theory,cognitive conflict theory and cooperative learning theory.The third chapter mainly uses the questionnaire and the interview method to carry on the detailed investigation to the junior high school students' physics knowledge condition,including the questionnaire design and the implementation,as well as the analysis of investigation result.The fourth chapter mainly combines the learning situation of junior high school students in cities and towns in our country to improve the teaching process of the Peer Instruction,also carry out teaching practice and case analysis from the physics concept class and the regular class.The fifth chapter makes an in-depth analysis of the effect of previous teaching practice from the perspective of both students and teachers,so as to learn about the opinions and suggestions of students and teachers on the Peer Instruction.The sixth chapter mainly summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the Peer Instruction,sorts out the innovation points of this paper,and looks forward to the development prospect of the Peer Instruction in our country.On the basis of the teaching practice of the Peer Instruction,the author integrates the analysis of students' performance before and after the application of the Peer Instruction,the analysis of students' satisfaction with the Peer Instruction and the teacher's opinions and suggestions on the Peer Instruction,and draws the following conclusions:(1)The Peer Instruction can effectively deepen students' understanding of physics knowledge;(2)The Peer Instruction can significantly enhance students' participation in physics class;(3)ThePeer Instruction method can improve students' academic performance;(4)The Peer Instruction can cultivate students' good learning habits.Not only that,in order to increase the fitness of Peer Instruction in physics teaching in urban junior high school in our country,the author has made some changes to the teaching process of the Peer Instruction,stimulates the students' discussion consciousness by reasonably compiling the concept test questions,and improves the feedback efficiency as much as possible without reducing the accuracy of the feedback results.All these measures have achieved good results.
