The new curriculum standard emphasizes the idea of "learning the geography in life" and "learning the geography which is useful for life". Based on the present teaching situation of senior high school geography in China, this paper combines the high school geography teaching and PBL (Problem-Based Learning) teaching mode to explore a set of classroom teaching plans and patterns suitable for high school geography, and then improve the students' core competence and provide the teaching reference and practical guidance for high school geography teachers.This paper consists of six chapters. Chapter one is introduction. The research background,research significance,current research situation at home and abroad,research content and innovation, research methods and technical routes are defined in this chapter. Chapter two is related concepts and theoretical basis. This chapter analyzes the connotation and characteristics of PBL teaching, and analyzes the theoretical basis such as constructivism learning, student-oriented education and deep learning. Chapter three is construction of PBL teaching mode in senior high school.This chapter probes into the PBL teaching model teaching objectives,characteristics,principles and other content and also gives an in-depth study of the operation process of PBL teaching mode. Chapter four is senior high school geography PBL teaching mode application. This chapter mainly conducts the case study in the senior high school geography teaching process. According to the two subject areas high school geography involves, each selects one regarding the regional geography and the physical geography case, and carries out the instructional design based on the PBL pattern construction. The fifth chapter is challenges and strategies in PBL Teaching. In this chapter, the challenges in the PBL teaching are discussed the difficulties that teachers and students encounter in the process of PBL teaching. Based on the problems existing in the PBL teaching in senior high school geography, this chapter puts forward the strategy of applying PBL teaching effectively from the aspects of optimizing the problem setting, adjusting the teachers and students' understanding of PBL teaching and improving the classroom teaching methods of PBL teaching.Chapter six is conclusion and discussion. This chapter summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of PBL teaching, and provides a clear direction for the future research and development.
