Narrative competence is an important part of children's language ability,which has a positive effect on the development of children's cognition,emotion and social,especially on children's reading comprehension ability.Narrative competence for 5-6 years old preschool children is in a stage of rapid development,better narrative competence also helps children develop from oral language to written language.In order to seek a teaching method to improve the narrative competence of children aged 5-6comprehensively.90 children of a kindergarten in Xi'an were enrolled in this study.The subjects were divided into control group,experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 respectively.Teaching experiments were conducted by conventional reading,dialogue reading and the story map combined with dialogue reading.The purpose is to understand the development status of the 5-6 years old children's narrative competence.The effect of teaching method that the story map combined with dialogue reading on the children's narrative competence and the delayed effect of this reading teaching method on narrative competence.Research indicates:(1)The development level of various dimensions of narrative competence for 5-6 year-old children is inconsistent and there are gender differences.The narrative theme consistency and narrative structure developed the best,whereas dialogue,vocabulary level and performance have poor development.The narrative competence of girls aged 5-6 is overall better than that of boys.But boys are superior to girls in time marking,performance and sentence structure.(2)The story map with dialogue reading compared to dialogue reading and regular reading,can promote more comprehensive development of 5-6 years old children's narrative competence.In particular,it has a significant effect on the narrative length,dialogue use,performance,vocabulary level and sentence structure of children's narrative competence.(3)The delayed effect on dialogue reading and the story map with dialogue reading on the children's narrative competence is poor.But compared to dialogue reading,the story map with dialogue reading has a better maintaining effect on 5-6 years old children's narrative competence.In view of above research results,some educational suggestions can be provided:(1)Concern about the development of different dimensions and gender differences of the children's narrative competence.Consciously guide children to develop all aspects of the narrative competence in reading and narrative activities.(2)Try to teaching by combining several reading methods,effectsively improving the 5-6 years old children's narrative competence.(3)The overall perception of the story content and in-depth understanding are same important.Teachers should not only pay attention to the story of the fine explanation and interaction,but also to guide children to perceive the overall structure of the story.(4)Strengthen the awareness of training children's narrative competence in daily reading teaching activities.Regularly carry out life story,imagine story,script and other different types of narrative activities;teacher expand the narrative content and methods,at the same time,summarize the teaching experience,understand the latest relevant research results,adjust and try to use it in the teaching practice based on the actual situation,consequently promote the children's reading and narrative competence.
