Social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers refers to the necessary skills,behaviors,and attitudes that infants and toddlers to manage their own behaviors and emotions effectively to build an active relationship with others.The early socialemotional competencies of infants and toddlers have a very important influence on the individual's later cognitive,emotional and social development.Parent-child relationship is one of the factors influencing the social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers,many studies have discussed the influence of mother-child relationship on the social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers.In recent years,more and more attention has been paid to the influence of father-infant relationship on infants' and toddlers' development.Therefore,this study wants to explore the general situation of father involvement in parenting infants and toddlers,as well as the relationship between father participation,father-infant attachment and social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers through questionnaire survey,This study uses 212 infants and toddlers aged 1-3 years in an early childhood education institution in Shanghai as the research object.'' The Inventory of father Involvement(IFI)'' and '' the Attachment Questionnaire for 2-4 years old children(AQS:TWO-FOUR)'' were used to assess father involvement and father-infant attachment,and were completed by father;'' the Infant-Toddler Social and Emotional Assessment(ITSEA)'' was used to assess the social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers and was completed by mother.The results of the study are as follows:1.Father involvement in infants and toddlers-parenting is at a generally high level,and is influenced by children's age,father's age,educational background,working years,family monthly income.2.The overall level of father-infant attachment relationship is desirable and is affected by the children's age.And the children's age is more young,the father-infant attachment relationship is more better.3.Father involvement is positively correlation with father-infant attachment,and father involvement can significantly positively predict the dimensions of father-infant attachment.There is a significant positive correlation between father involvement,father-infant attachment and social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers.After controlling mother-infant attachment,father-infant attachment can't significantly predict social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers.Father involvement can significantly predict the social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers.4.After controlling the mother-infant attachment,father-infant attachment has moderator effect between father involvement and social-emotional competencies of infants and toddlers.Specifically,father-infant attachment-exploration can moderate the relationship between support and plan,daily care and discipline constraint of father involvement and imitation or play of infants and toddlers.When attachment-exploration is low,father's high level of support and plan,daily care,and discipline constraint can improve the ability of imitation or play of infants and toddlers.When attachmentexploration is high,the level of father involvement in support and plan,daily care,and discipline constraint have no effect on imitation or play of infants and toddlers.For the above conclusion,the present study on the feasibility of father involvement in infants and toddlers-parenting made a number of recommendations,including: fathers should fully understand the importance of fathers' participation in infant education,and create a good attachment environment when get along with infants and toddlers;form a good father-son relationship with infants and toddlers,and improve the quality of father involvement,so as to further improve the development of socialemotional competencies of infants and toddlers.
