llustration is an important part of Chinese textbooks in the lower grade of primary school,which plays an important role in the teaching and learning of Chinese.The study of illustrations in Chinese textbook is conducive to teachers and students to pay enough attention to the reading and the use of illustrations,but it is also conducive to textbook editors to arrange illustrations more scientifically and reasonably,so as to give full play to the role of illustrations in Chinese teaching.Although the Chinese textbook for primary schools compiled by the Ministry of Education has not been published for a long time,it is and will be used by primary school students all over the country.It will affect millions of primary school students.The text is divided into three parts: in the first part,the author categorizes the illustrations in the Chinese textbooks of the lower grade primary schools compiled by the Ministry of Education,and compares them with the illustrations of the same articles of the People's Education Press.This paper summarizes the changes of textbook illustrations and the features of textbook illustrations compiled by the Ministry of Education,and finds that great changes have taken place in the way of picture embedding,the length of pictures and the contents of pictures.The second part analyzes the current situation of the use of illustrations,this research mainly adopts the method of investigation,combines with the interviews and observation records in the teaching process,in order to reveal many problems existing in the understanding and application of textbook illustrations in the teaching of Chinese subject.And try to give a reasonable explanation from the teachers,students from two perspectives.The survey found that both teachers and students were satisfied with the quality of illustrations in the textbook,and recognized the role of illustrations in classroom teaching,but teachers generally used illustrations as a medium to attract students' attention.However,it has relatively few teaching functions such as training students' observation ability,stimulating students' imagination,helping students understand and memorize texts,and it also lacks the necessary guidance for students to read pictures.In the third part,a detailed and in-depth discussion of how to apply illustrationsto teach Chinese phonetic alphabet,literacy,ancient poetry,reading and oral communication was conducted in conjunction with specific case studies.And on this basis,countermeasures.for improving the use of illustrations were summarized.
