New orientation of the development of China's urbanization has been determined during the Third Plenary Session of the 18 th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Nowadays, “new-type urbanization” plays an essential role in economic transition, and will promote the social-economic development in China. With the rapid growth of urban population, the role of indemnificatory apartments becomes increasingly important during the urbanization process. The emphasis of “new-type” urbanization is to have migrant workers integrated into the cities. Properly solving the problem of indemnificatory apartments for the migrant workers can not only promote the welfare index of them, but also speed-up the urbanization process. During recent years, a large number of migrant workers have been engaged in Nanyang city, significantly contributing to the economic development and city construction of Nanyang. Their survival condition needs more attention and concern form the society.To achieve the basic information of the migrant workers as well as their housing condition and the intention of house purchasing in Nanyang, several types of migrant workers in Nanyang are investigated by questionnaire survey, observation, and interview. Empirical study is then conducted drawing upon the related theories of Marx, Engels, Maslow, and Keynes. Specifically, The survival condition of the migrant workers in Nanyang is explored using scientific and systematic analysis methods. The current hodusing problem of the migrant workers is also analyzed respectively from the viewpoints of the government, the employer, and the migrant workers themselves. Using the experience of both domestic and foreign regions for reference, how to solve the housing problem of the migrant workers in Nanyang is concerned in terms of the realities of Nanyang city. Suggestions are tentatively provided including relaxing the application restrictions of low-rent house and public rental house, establishing a unified housing security system, refining housing subsidy policy for the migrant workers, clear about the employer's responsibility, facilitating management of city village and its transformation, promoting self-quality of the migrant workers and enhancing their payment ability, etc. The purpose of this study is to further improve related housing policies of the migrant workers, substantially tackle their housing problems, provide feasible suggestions to improve their living environment, and finally let them share the benefits of economic development.
