Analysis Of The Urban Housing Problems Of Migrant Workers In Shanghai

Along with China’s urban and rural social and economic development and the accelerated process of urbanization, more and more migrant workers entered to the cities for living and working, having made a great contribution to nation-building, and urban prosperityrural development.However,because of the limitation of urban-rural social and economic structure and the household registration system, migrant workers have been excluded from the urban housing security system for a long time. At the same time,because of their own limited economy and the lack of the ability to improve their living conditions,there are a number of problems of urban housing problem of migrant workers in cities and towns,such as small living space,appalling inhabited environment,poor housing condition,the lack of ancillary facilities.How to meet the basic housing needs of migrant workers,to improve their living environment and housing conditions,to resolve the urban housing problem of migrant workers,which has become a hot issue that need urgent solution,and has to be the community and scholars’ attention.With the process of urbanization in China as the background of urban housing problems of migrant workers,the paper described the definition of migrant workers and the theoretical basis for the research,and analysed the experience of the solution of housing problems of the floating population and low-income groups in some foreign countries and migrant workers of cities and towns domestic.For the purpose of solving the housing problems of urban migrant workers in shanghai,chapter3of the paper began with the survey and field interview of the residence,the housing situation and the housing needs of migrant workers in shanghai, analysed housing characteristics of the concentration and the housing needs of migrant workers in shanghai.And then chapter3concluded urban housing problems of migrant workers in shanghai,researched the reason and the influence of problems.With regard the suggestions of urban housing problems of migrant workers in shanghai,the paper analysed the necessity and the feasibility of problem-solving in the fourth chapter firstly, and analysed remarkablly the feasibility in three aspects,which were economic foundation,environmental policy and social practice. And then in chapter5of the paper,it specifically analysed the effective way to solve the housing problems,and proposed the short-term goal to meet the migrant workers’housing needs and to improve the living environment and the housing conditions of migrant workers,and the long-term objective to include urban housing of migrant workers into urban planning and to build public housing system for migrant workers.In the specific choice of problem-solving program,three kinds of solutions were obtained, which were transformation to the accumulation of migrant workers by the government,building of the dormitory of migrant workers by the enterprise and establishment of public housing system of migrant workers by the government. And the specific implementation and operation were obtained by the use of AHP analysis of three kinds of solutions.The paper mainly adopted a variety of approaches to solve the urban housing problems of migrant workers,such as the introduction of the interests of migrant workers to transform the main body of the village in the city,the building of hostels for migrant workers,the construction of public housing system with coverage of migrant workers,and analysed the related complete supporting measures.Chapter6of the paper are summary and prospects.In this chapter,proposals to solve the urban housing problems of migrant workers in shanghai were summarized,and the long-term conditions and the follow-up to solve urban housing problems fundamentally were proposed,such as,the reform of the household registration system, improvement of income level and housing spending power of migrant workers in shanghai,and the process of urbanization of migrant workers.
