A Study On Technical Efficiency And Regional Gap Of China's Equipment Manufacturing Industry

Equipment manufacturing industry is the foundation and core of the development of national economy, but also the strategic industry which is to safeguard national economic security and enhance the comprehensive national strength. In the background of the country to vigorously promote the development of strategic emerging industries, the development of equipment manufacturing industry has made a great breakthrough and become the equipment manufacturing industry power. However, a series of problems such as the further development of the industry is big but not strong; the lack of core technology; key technology behind and so on restrict technological innovation of equipment manufacturing industry. Break through the high-end equipment to achieve the revitalization of equipment manufacturing industry, is a major industrial development strategy in China in the wake of the financial crisis, and has important practical significance to research the technical efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry.Firstly, the paper has summarized the research of technology efficiency theory and equipment manufacturing efficiency through literature research, and cleared the concepts of the technical efficiency, technical efficiency gap and equipment manufacturing. On the basis of theoretical study, the paper analyses the influence mechanism of the technical efficiency gap in the development of equipment manufacturing industry. Then combined with the current situation and problems of industry technology development of equipment manufacturing, the paper uses the data in 1998-2012 of East, Middle and West to analyze the technical efficiency gap with the Meta-frontier approach(MFA). The results found that the overall level of the technical efficiency of China's equipment manufacturing is low; the level of technical efficiency of East, Middle and West is not balanced; and there are great differences between the development of the provinces within the region. In order to revitalize the equipment manufacturing industry in China, this paper suggests to develop high-end equipment as an opportunity, in order to cultivate backbone enterprises as the starting point, to provide intellectual support connecting East and West, to promote the gradient transfer of industries, to explore a feasible way for China's equipment manufacturing industry regional development.
