The geographic-environmental effects on 17 cities of Tibetan area's rural poverty based on spatial perspective are discussed in the thesis. It is a study to analyze the relationships between the rural poverty and geographic location, restrictions of environmental conditions, social development, while factors of natural conditions of agricultural production, geographic location, transportation and communication are considered as the main capitals for economic development. Quantitative method is used to estimate relationships between poverty, spatial geographic-environment, social development after careful review of the theories and practices on spatial distribution of poverty and poverty reduction, in order to discuss and solve three following problems:(1) Whether the natural geographic-environment factors will constrain on poverty differently or not?(2) How much do the social and economic factors alleviate the effects of poverty?(3) Whether the poverty has the spatial spillover effect and how is the variation tendency?Firstly, we depicted the spatial distribution of Tibetan areas poverty with GIS, then to analyze the spatial correlation of poverty with ESDA. It showed that the Tibetan areas poverty related closely with its space location and natural environment characteristics. The Tibetan areas poverty present positive correlations in whole space and high-high or low-low cluster in local, the correlation of close cities is higher than the distant ones. Secondly, we carried out the regression analysis with spatial econometric model on Per capita net income of rural residents after quantitative spatial geographic-environment factors. It turned out that the natural geography factors have an significant effect on poverty, and the poverty effects of natural geography factors could be relieved with the development of society and economy. We continued to adopt spatial econometric model based on the different geographical distance weight to analyze the spatial poverty spillover effects, the results indicated that the poverty of 17 cities affected each other, and the directly spatial poverty spillover effect showed a declined trend with the increase of spatial geographic distance. Finally, we put forward some corresponding policy recommendations based on the elastic coefficient values and significant level of former regression estimation.
