Analysis On Cross-region Operation And City Commercial Banks’ Efficiency

When the government cancelled the limitation on the operating region in 2006,city commercial banks set off a tide of cross-regional business and then entered a stage of rapid development.In recent years,city commercial banks are busy seizing the market.Their pace of cross-regional operation is becoming faster and faster.How does cross-regional operation impact the efficiency of city commercial banks?Whether cross-regional operation can promote to enhance the efficiency of city commercial banks?The research about these issues has some practical significance to improve the overall competitiveness of city commercial banks.The main purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between the cross-regional operation and the efficiency of city commercial banks.Chapter one is mainly about the background and significance of the research,literature review,research ideas and research methods.The content of chapter two includes the definition of cross-regional operation and the efficiency of city commercial banks,and the analysis of the mechanism between them.The third chapter reviews the development process of city commercial banks’cross-regional operation,and overviews its development status.Chapter four is mainly about using the DEA methods to measure the efficiency of samples,and analyzing the measuring results of different kinds of city commercial banks.In Chapter five is mainly on the research result which is got by constructing models and doing multiple regressions by Stata.Chapter six draw conclusions based on the empirical results,and make relevant suggestions.The final conclusion of the research is that,the cross-regional operation really helps to enhance the city commercial banks’ efficiency,but the expansion of the geographical distance and the diversification of the economic level of the branches’ location will reduce the efficiency to some extent.Therefore,to make better use of cross-regional operation to improve efficiency,city commercial banks should consider their own strength beforemaking the decision about the path of cross-regional operation and choose an appropriate cross-regional business objective.
