The Measurement And Change Of The Complexity Of China's Manufacturing Export Technology

With China's export volume increased year by year,domestic and foreign research on China's export sophistication has gradually expanded.A group of scholars represented by Rodrik argued that China's export sophistication has been close to the level of developed countries,which has caused widespread debate in academic circles and was defined as the"Rodrik paradox".After taking into account the use of imported intermediate inputs in various industries,this paper calculated the export sophistication of manufacturing industry and 26 subdivided industries from 2000 to 2014 by conbining the non competitive input-output table,and then we found most of the industries' export sophistication in fluctuation showed a rising trend,the growth rate of the medium technology industry is the largest,followed by the low technology industry,but for the high technology industry,the growth is not obvious,especially the export sophistication of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry and instrumentation and cultural office machinery manufacturing industry has decreased obviously.In addition,through the comparative analysis,it is found that in the process of heightening of China's manufacturing industry's export structure,the heightening of speed of the technological structure of China's manufacturing industry is relatively backward.Based on the measure of the export sophistication of manufacturing industry,this paper launched corresponding theoretical analysis about its change,and then we conducted a comprehensive examination about the"Rodrik paradox" in the China's manufacturing industry level.The results show that China's manufacturing industry's export sophistication did not catch up with the developed countries and it is compatible with the level of economic development,in addition,its change mechanism does not deviate from the normal path.There are differences among different industries and different periods for the effect of the human capital,the per capita capital and the foreign direct investment that is mentioned in the theoretical analysis section on the export sophistication of manufacturing industry,but they can promote the deepening of export sophistication of manufacturing industry.In sum,the "Rodrik paradox"does not appear in China's manufacturing industry.
