Research On The Formation Mechanism Of Self-organization Of Platform Enterprises

A Platform enterprise,a new organizational form,shows a strong vitality in the Internet era.Enterprises platform or joining a platform has become the key to sustainable development.With the platform,the Inter-organizational transaction costs can be reduced,and enterprises can use a verity of resources that platform provides.At present,more and more small and medium-sized enterprises(SMES)have been emerging an ecological cluster through the platform;it has experienced transition from disorder to order,low to high order and no collaboration to large-scale cooperation.In this course,the autonomy and initiative of small and medium-sized enterprises continuously improve and the function of the platform is constantly changing,platform enterprises show the self-organizing trend.The research on the self-organization of platform enterprises,however,is very rare,which has become an important issue to be solved in the academic field.This paper takes the Taobao.com as an example,and explores it development process of self-organization,building a formation mechanism model of the self-organization of platform enterprises.First of all,through the analysis of the existing literature,we know the deficiency of the research,and then puts forward the logic of platform enterprises(platform + SMES = platform enterprises)and the initial framework.Secondly,we get rich materials about self-organization of Taobao by field research,network collection and literature review etc.,and we conduct narrative analysis of the date to refine the key features of platform and SMES.Finally,combined with the existing research and the case data,we discuss the formation mechanism of platform enterprises self organization.Through a blend of theory and empirical evidence,we develop a series of viewpoints and conclusions,and then constructing a platform for platform for enterprises self organization formation mechanism model.Through case analysis,this paper finds that(1)in the platform enterprises process of self-organization,the role of platform enterprises experienced from "commanding" platform leader to "consulting" platform infrastructure provider,the degree of maturity,freedom and independence of small and medium-sized which as "subordinates" business department of the platform is increasing.(2)The self organizing process of platform enterprises is a process of improving the order and adaptability,and a process that empowers the SMES.(3)SMES’linkages experience from "to be organized" to "self-organize".With the platform,the SMES are able to connect between the modules in low cost;the organizational forms present the trend of horizontal union.From the perspective of self-organization,this paper conducts the research to the enterprises platform,and builds a platform enterprises self-organizing mechanism for the first time.On the hand,we enrich the platform enterprises research ideas and content.On the other hand,this paper provides practical guidance for the platform enterprises management and the sustainable development of SMES.As the same,because this paper belongs to a single case study,which determines in reproduction and development has certain limitations.The future studies can use multiple case studies or large sample survey method to further test the conclusion of this study.
