The Study On Trade Characteristics And Export Potential Of China's Rail Transit Equipment Manufacturing Industry

Equipment manufacturing industry refers to a strategic industry for providing equipment to various sectors of the national economy and defense construction,which is the embodiment of comprehensive national power.It includes two fields:traditional equipment manufacturing industry and high-end equipment manufacturing industry.Rail transit equipment manufacturing industry is one of the five key developing directions of high-end equipment manufacturing industry.After ten years of rapid development,China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry has made remarkable achievements.Currently,good international and domestic environment provides a great opportunity for the development of China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry.From the international perspectives,there is an obvious growth trend in the global rail transit equipment industry.Domestically,the Chinese Government has proposed and implemented"One Belt and One Road" strategy and "Made in China 2025" strategy to clarify the key issues of development objectives.It provides powerful policy guidance and support for the rail transit equipment manufacturing industry.There are few literatures on the study on international trade of China's rail transit equipment industry.so it's necessary to analyze the trade characteristics and the export potential which can provide a reference for China's rail transit equipment industry.This paper includes five parts.The first part is the introduction which includes the background,the significance,research methods,literature review,innovations and shortcomings.The second part is the literature review for the theories of intra-industry trade and the gravity model.The third part analyzes the current situation,the trade characteristics and the problems of China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry.Firstly,basing on a specific definition of rail transit equipment manufacturing industry,it uses three different levels to analyze the current status of China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry.Secondly,it analyzes the trade characteristics of China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry from three aspects:the characteristics of import and export,trade competitiveness and trade structure.Finally,it summarizes the main problems.The fourth part estimates the export potential of China's rail transit equipment which is based on the augmented gravity model.The research shows that the GDP of import state,the industrial sales value of China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry,the population of import state,the general government final consumption expenditure and the preferential trade agreements can promote the increase of the export.Otherwise,the distance and the rail network density will limit the increase of the export.In addition,it also shows that the over-potential countries includes Iran,Kazakhstan,Argentina,South Africa and other 20 states,and the under-potential countries includes Chile,Brazil,Philippines,Portugal,Denmark and other 18 states.The fifth part is the main conclusions and policy recommendations.According to the paper,We summarize the relevant research conclusion and put forward policy suggestions to promote the development of China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry,including strengthening the top-level design of development strategy,promoting the cooperation of the vehicle and parts enterprises,improving policies and measures for SEMs and promoting coordinated development,clarifying the export markets and paths to speed up the implementation of the "going-out"strategy.There are three main innovative points in this paper.Firstly,it gives a specific definition of rail transit equipment manufacturing industry and uses HS code to clarify the corresponding product information in the field of international trade.Secondly,it expands the view of research and analyzes the further trade characteristics of China's rail transit equipment manufacturing industry.Thirdly,considering the characteristics of rail transit equipment manufacturing industry,it adds three new variables to expand the basic gravity model which including industrial sales value,railway network density and general government final consumption expenditure.It makes the final export potential equation is closer to reality and has a stronger persuasive power.
