Research On The Status Quo And Growth Potential Of Yunnan And India

India is not only the largest developing country in South Asia,but also the fastest growing economy in South Asia.China and India are two largest developing countries of the world,the two sides have been trading.And trade connections are getting closer,the bilateral trade volume between China and India reached US $ 71.658 billion in 2015.Yunnan Province is one of the closest provinces in China from India,which has the natural geographical advantage of trade cooperation with India.With the continuous development of regional cooperation,Yunnan Province has deepened its reform and promoted the development of foreign trade.The total trade volume between Yunnan Province and India has increased in resent years.At present,India has become one of the most important trading partners of Yunnan Province.Since the 21 st century,the economic and trade relations between Yunnan Province and India have been developing continuously,in 2001,the bilateral trade volume between Yunnan Province and India reached US $57 million,and by 2015,bilateral trade volume reached US $764 million,an increase of 12.4 times.While the total amount of foreign trade in Yunnan Province and India have also developed rapidly,the bilateral trade volume accounted for the trade volume between China and India and the proportion of Yunnan Province and India total foreign trade are still low.In 2001,the bilateral trade volume accounted for 1.58% of the China and India trade volume,accounted for 2.86% of the total foreign trade in Yunnan Province,accounted for 0.6% of India total foreign trade;but in 2015,the three accounted for 1.07%,3.11% 0.12%,and it is very inconsistent with their resource and location advantages.In view of this situation,this paper from the perspective of Yunnan Province,mainly through combing the status of trade cooperation between Yunnan Province and India.Based on the SWOT method,this paper studies the trade between Yunnan Province and India in their advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and challenges,and uses the trade gravity model to study the growth potential of Yunnan and India.It provides the path choice and policy suggestions for promoting the further development of Yunnan and India.The choice of the path proposed in this paper is to grasp the opportunities of BCIM and The Belt and Road.Suggestions include training and introducing international economic and trade talents,strengthening infrastructure construction,the development of complementary industry trade and adjusting the industrial structure.Based on the above analysis and research,the conclusions are:First,although the total import and export volume of Yunnan and India have increased rapidly,the total trade volume is still small.The total amount of bilateral trade between Yunnan and India is not high in total trade volume between China and India,the total foreign trade volume of Yunnan Province and India.Yunnan Province has a long history of communication with India,which has complementary resources and industrial structure,and obvious geographical advantages,the potential for trade development is great.Second,the import and export commodity structure is different between Yunnan Province and India,Yunnan mainly imports primary products from India,but exports capital-intensive products of industrial products to India.Third,the Degree of Trade Connection between Yunnan Province and India is declining in the fluctuation,and it concludes that the trade links between India and Yunnan is not close.In the SITC-0(food and animal),SITC-5(chemical and related products),SITC-6(manufactured goods which are classified by raw materials)these three types of goods have the same comparative advantage between Yunnan Province and India,the two sides export to the world market,the product structure is very similar,so there is a certain degree of competition on the world economic stage.Fourth,the trade gravity model constructed in this paper calculates the trade potential between Yunnan province and India from 2000 to 2015,this data is about 0.4.Which indicates that the trade potential of the two sides is large.So the trade complementarity between Yunnan Province and India is greater than their competition,and the growth potential of bilateral trade is great.
