Research On The Core Competitiveness Of Kunming MICE Tourism

With the traits of starting late and growing fast,the Convention and Exhibition Tourism in China,taking the advantage of the rapid development of Convention and Exhibition Tourism industry all over the world,is now on the right track.Various regions around China are investing vigorously in Convention and Exhibition Venue's construction and its affiliated facilities' installation.Take the under construction Venues Zhengzhou new international exhibition center and Nanchang green international exhibition center for example.Although the construction of “hard” facilities are incredibly important to the core competitiveness of Convention and Exhibition Tourism industry,the “soft” facilities such as the image of tourism destination,the quality of local tourism staff etc.also play an decisive role.Firstly,due to the lacking of unified definition of Convention and Exhibition tourism,this paper dedicates to the comb of relevant reference about the definition,points out the commonness of those definitions,and thus provides a concept,which suits to this paper.Secondly,according to the Diamond Model,analyze the competitiveness of Kunming Convention and Exhibition tourism industry from six aspects,namely,supplying,demanding,industry competitiveness condition,supporting industry,government and opportunity.It shows that the competiveness of Kunming Convention and Exhibition tourism is the driving effect of tourism to Convention and Exhibition,the strongly support of government,the driving force of the existing international Convention and Exhibition brand to Kunming Convention and Exhibition tourism.Based on Diamond Model,this paper provides the Similar Diamond Model.This new model combines four main ingredients,namely macro-environment competitiveness,relevant supporting industry competitiveness,Convention and Exhibition tourism industry competitiveness and the industry's growth competitiveness.Based on these four ingredients and the seven principles of the indicator system,puts forward an indicator system of the competitiveness of Convention and Exhibition tourism industry.Thirdly,on one hand,in dealing with the qualitative indicators,whose original data is obtained by using Expert Scoring Method,this paper adopts weighted set-valued method to make sure the accuracy of the final scores of qualitative indicators.On the other hand,analyze the comprehensive competitiveness of five cities in Southwest domain,namely Kunming,Nanning,Chongqing,Guiyang,and Chengdu,by using Statistics 19.0.The result shows that the ranking of the comprehensive competitiveness of five cities is Chengdu,Chongqing,Guiyang,Kunming,and Nanning.At the same time,the result of the factor analysis reveals that the core competitiveness of Kunming is the support of government,the fusion of Convention and Exhibition industry and tourism industry,and the driving effects of tourism industry to Convention and Exhibition industryAt last,the regional and industrial attractions of Kunming Convention and exhibition tourism industry,and the demanding environment of Kunming Convention and Exhibition tourism from the angle of tourism industry and Convention and Exhibition industry respectively,and the facing pressure of competitiveness of the development of Kunming Convention and Exhibition tourism,the current development situation of the relevant supporting industries such as transportation and catering,and the opportunities the Kunming Convention and Exhibition tourism faced with are analyzed.Through a comprehensive analysis comes from qualitative and quantitative,some suggestion have been given.
