Agriculture sector plays a critical role in the development of developing countries,it is also an important part of China's aid policy for Africa in the 21st century.China's growing influence in Africa attracts the attention of western donors. With unsolved global issues such as poverty and famine, agricultural aid from donors will play an important role in helping recipients to develop their agriculture sector. We need to compare China's agricultural aid to other donor' s effort to understand how to achieve donor's foreign policy targets, strategies through agricultural aid.Agricultural aid from developed countries is not as stable as we thought,it sometime values the importance of providing aid for this sector, sometimes choose to partly neglect agricultural sector.China provides agricultural aid to Africa since 1970s and kept developing its agricultural cooperation with African countries. What has changed for both western donors and China in aiding African agriculture since 2000?This paper chose to compare an important donor, the UK's agricultural aid to China's agricultural aid for Africa, found that since 2000,these two countries have changed their aid management, aid disbursement and their participation in multilateral agricultural aid. They have different reasons in valuing agriculture aid for Africa, they play different roles and have different policy targets.By comparing them, this paper tries to review the effects of China's agricultural aid to Africa and rethink its limitation, provide future suggestions and thoughts.
