An Empirical Analysis Of China's Energy Efficiency And Its Influencing Factors

With the development of global economy,the constraint of energy on the sustainable development of economy is becoming more and more obvious.This phenomenon makes scholars pay much more attention to the field of energy than ever before,especially the field of energy economy.Since Reform and Opening,extensive economic growth mode result in a large number of energy has been consumed,and environmental pollution is becoming serious.These problems have restricted the sustainable development of our economy.Under the cover of the total GDP,China's energy efficiency has begun to attract scholars attention.The research of energy efficiency and its influencing factors have practical significance for China's sustainable economic development.This article just study the panel data of 29 provincial regions from 2005 to 2014,through extended Cobb-Douglas production function,including four variables:energy,capital,labor,time virtual variable and region virtual variable.The paper uses the proportional relationship between economic growth and energy consumption,so as to get energy efficiency of 29 provincial regions through SFA method.Next the paper analyzes the factors of energy efficiency differences between regions through GLS empirical analysis,including four variables:energy structure,industrial structure,technological progress,and urbanization rate.The results of the paper showed:1.Verify that the findings of the majority of scholars,the energy consumption has a promoting effect on economy growth;2.There are differences between regions on energy efficiency.The east coast regional energy efficiency is approaching production frontier and fluctuates up and down around 0.95,northeast and central areas of energy efficiency fluctuates up and down around 0.85,and western area of energy efficiency is generally less than 0.6;3.Regions with low energy efficiency are not closed to high energy efficiency gradually,and show a phenomenon of inertia of energy efficiency,it is stable to fluctuate up and down at a value.Through GLS empirical analysis,we found that energy structure,industrial structure,technological progress and urbanization rate have important influence on regional energy efficiency.By analyzing the results of regression model to get difference of main factors affecting the energy efficiency in four regions.
