A Study Of Marx Weber's Methodology Of Economics

Max Weber is a distinguished German economist,sociologist,philosopher and political scientist,and he is a representative figure of the New Historical School of Economics.However,Weber is not only a member in the New Historical School.The divergence between him and the New School of History in methods constitute the internal cause of the decline of the school.Furthermore,Many of Weber’s economic methods have been affecting today’s mainstream economics,and many of his critical views on the economics for his day still have practical significance for today.Compared with the level of economic thought,Weber’s contribution to economics is more reflected in the level of economic methodology.This thesis studies Weber’s methodology of Economics.From the perspective of economic thought of Webb,analyzing his methodology of economics.At the same time,using his methodology to rethink his economic thought.Summarizing the characteristics,contributions and deficiencies of Weber’s methodology of economics.Finally,working out The enlightenment of his methodology of economics to China’s economics study and economics teaching.This study consists of five mainly parts.As background knowledge,the first part introducing philosophical basis and economic basis of Max Weber’s economic methodology,and his position in economics.The second part introduces the basic content and characteristics of Weber’s methodology of Economics.This part does not focus on the specific method,but aims at being the structure of the following chapters.The third and the fourth chapter are the concrete development of "value neutrality","value judgment" and "ideal type"method,analyzing The intrinsic meaning,significance and problems of these methods in detail.On the basis of the previous chapters,the fifth chapter evaluates Weber’s economic methodology,meanwhile focusing on the enlightenment for China’s Economics.The age of Max Weber is the rising age of marginal revolution,mathematical economics and the Austria school,as a result,There is a mutual influence between his economic methods and these school’s methods.The development of the economic methods left by these schools has deeply influenced China’s mainstream economics."Value neutrality","value judgment"and "ideal type" form the mainly parts of Weber’s economic methodology.We can discerning the significance of subjectivity to economic study through "Value judgment",piercing the false of objective economical theory and the deficiency of "pure economic".There are also many problems in Weber’s methodology of economics,it shows self-contradiction from its logical starting point,the three methods has contradiction in his methodology,and so on.It provides cherish inspiration for China’s economics study,no matter the positive aspects or the problem in Weber’s methodology of economics.
