Study Of The Nexus Between The Natural Resource Abundance And The Urban-rural Income Gap

In recent years,the income gap between urban and rural areas has been a central concern of people's income gap issues.The oversized gap must have big negative influence to the living standard of people,the economic balance of nations and the harmony of social.Meanwhile,since the reform and open,the party and government has been paying close attention to the urban-rural gap issues,such as cancelling the agriculture tax in 2006,providing a tuition waiver to rural compulsory education in 2007 etc.The emerging policies have alleviated this problem relative to previous years,but the absolute value remains high.With this increasingly serious problem,many scholars put their research point into this issuegradually,they try to find all the factors of this problem.Like the openness,the Urban and rural dual structure,the unequal finance development,even deeper factor like institutional quality,have all been researched once and once,but natural Resource Abundance can't be found.As everyone knows,natural resource is our huge God-given wealth.Having enough natural resources is a common target of all the countries,since they can bring the national affluence,and the peace and plenty to all the people.However,ridiculously,like the wide wealth disparity or something has appeared at the rich-resource region,which is contrary to our hope,and has been widely noted.So,why does this situation happen?The present situation of China has told us that many regions have enough natural resources,like the west region,all have huge gap between urban and rural areas.Just by happenstance?Or,is the natural resourceabundance also the factor of urban-rural income gap's enlarging?To analyze the confusing relationship between the Natural Resource Abundance and the Income gap between urban and rural areas deeply,this paper does research in the conceptions and current situation of the Natural Resource Abundance and the Income gap between urban and rural areas,prove the macroscopically negative performance between them that the income gap is larger in the province which has more natural resources,and also,the theoretical support of influence is analyzed concretely,it turns out to have four channels,which bring curse influence to economic development,then make the income gap bigger based on resource curse theory.Meanwhile,through Clustering decomposition and the empirical analysis to 31 provinces 2005-2014 ten years' panel data,the abundance of natural resource has deteriorated sharply the Income gap between urban and rural areas,with some covariates have been controlled,such as Local financial expenditure,GDP per capita,Educational development level,Institutional quality and Urban and rural dual structure,the Robust test has also validated the result.Combine the outcome in theory and empirical analysis,the conclusion is:national resource will bring negative influence to the urban-rural income gap on provincial level.Besides,we also offer some feasible advises in term of property arrangement and the Belt and Road Initiative based on our conclusion,which have a certain contribution to the rational use of natural resources and the further shrinking of the Income gap between urban and rural areas.The innovation point find expression in research perspecive of natural resource abundance and income gap,research method of 31 inter-provincial data and clustering decomposition,research background of theoretical support.
