The tide of modern science and technology is sweeping the world, and the development of information industry is irresistible.Knowledge workers are indispensable and can be regarded as the main force in the modern workplace. As one of the most important foundation in the development of the enterprises, knowledge workers are more and more valued by these enterprises. This phenomenon also contributes to the fierce competition for talents.Take Suzhou Industrial Park as an example, this area is the only international demonstration area for higher education in China. Many projects from about one hundred top 500 enterprises have been introduced to this area. Also this area has more than 800 high-tech enterprises, which has attracted hundreds of thousand knowledge workers from different province, even from different countries. These workers can form the innovation ability of those enterprises. However, compared with other areas, the advanced management concept and reasonable human resource management level of this area has not guaranteed employees' loyalty to those enterprises. The voluntary turnover rate in this industrial park has reached over 50%since 2010,which is far exceeded compared with the average turnover rate of 20%in Suzhou.According to many domestic and foreign researches, job burnout has a strong predictive effect on turnover intention.Through the collation of relevant literature at home and abroad, this paper makes a brief introduction of the research status for turnover intention, job burnout and emotional intelligence.Based on the systematic discussion of the relationship between the three, this paper argues that job burnout with its three dimensions have significant predictive effect on turnover intention of knowledge workers,in which emotional intelligence plays regulating effect. When knowledge workers with higher level of emotional intelligence face high job burnout, they will have a relatively low turnover intention.Besides, this paper defines the concept of knowledge employee, turnover intention, job burnout and emotional intelligence.Based on the theoretical preparation, this paper puts forward some relevant research hypotheses, and builds a theoretical model for this study.According to the high turnover rate of Suzhou Industrial Park,a questionnaire survey has been carried out. With the help of SPSS 17.0,the reliability and validity of the questionnaire are tested, and the moderating effect of each dimension of emotional intelligence was verified. At the same time,AMOS was used to test the relationship between the three. The empirical results show that, for knowledge workers in Suzhou Industrial Park, emotional exhaustion and cynical dimension of job burnout can occur positively predict turnover intention.Emotional intelligence has a negative impact on turnover intention and its four dimensions have negative moderating effect on the relationship between job burnout and turnover intention.Accordingly, this paper puts forward three suggestions.Firstly, enterprises needs to constantly improve the selection and recruitment of staff and the emotional intelligence level should be involved in the staff recruitment system.Secondly, enterprises need to help employees develop and enhance the level of emotional intelligence in the management activities. For example, they can hold different courses according to the four dimensions of emotional intelligence, and constantly adjust the management.Thirdly,in order to cope with job burnout, enterprises should avoid their arbitrary development through different means of intervention.Enterprises should create a working environment that can stimulate the creativity of knowledge workers, motivate employees through various ways, and provide appropriate mechanisms for the reasonable internal mobility of employees.
