Study Of The Urban Problem In Small Cities

With the relaxation of controls on internal migration in China,cities with a sound public service system,excellent educational resources,good sanitation and medical conditions quickly pulled the rural masses to cities in recent years.All those indicate that China is booming in urbanization.At the same time,with the development of urbanization,there are problems such as traffic congestion,environmental deterioration,exhaustion of medical resources in great cities and workforce shortages,slow economic growth,oversupply of houses and backward culture in small cities.All those problems effectively put a brake on development of cities.However,there currently seems to be a large gap between the study of urban disease in great cities and small cities.Based on the related study of urban disease in big cities,this paper makes an empirical study on the disease of small cities by using system theory,the urban ecosystem theory and the game theory.In addition,the paper analyzes the causes of urban disease in small cities and puts forward some countermeasures.It is of great significance to small cities' sound development.Based on the literature research on urbanization,urban disease and urban development theory,this paper defines the notion of urban disease in small cities firstly and then summarizes the general performance of it.In addition,this study establishes a system of measurement which based on the urban evaluation standard and the evaluation index of urban disease in big cities.This system mainly consists of 26 indicators in four different ways which including economic development,social life,ecological environment and humanistic development.After that,this paper selects six representative cities for comparative study.By studying the city chronology and the relevant statistical data,the study makes a classification for urban disease in small cities.Based on the causes of the urban disease in small cities,this study put forwards some suggestions on how to solve the problems.This paper argues that some small cities in our country do have urban problems to varying degrees.There are so many causes.But people,the operating environment and the operational mode do play an important role in it.Operating environment is the foundation and the operational mode is the key.What's more,the participant is the heart.Therefore,the participant should play a good role in the management of small city disease and we need to stick by those principles which are fair,benefit,rationality,innovation,multiple participants and cooperation and then cooperate with each other to solve the problem.In addition,the system includes power,the aim,the place,the process and the participant.The governance system is not an independent one but a complicated system.This system contains a target mechanism,a measurement mechanism and an assessment mechanism.In order to solve the problem,both of us,including government,organizations with experts and all stakeholders,should contribute to it.This study of the urban problem in small cities is a complement and an innovation of the previous relevant theories and research which has profound theoretical and practical significance.Firstly,by using the game theory,the urban ecosystem theory and the system theory,this paper provides some new theories for the study of the urban problem in small cities.Secondly,this study is a complement to the study of the urban disease which expends the research field from the urban disease in big cities to small cities.Therefore,it is of great significance for the healthy development of the cities to study the urban problem in small cities.
