Summing up the past theoretical achievements about work stress and peripheral performance, this paper introduces the emotional intelligence(adjustment variable)and self-efficacy(mediating variable)as two variables and assuming the greater work pressure, the lower peripheral performance,in which self-efficacy in work pressure and peripheral performance plays a mediating role, and emotional intelligence plays a regulatory role.Through the collation of previous literature, this paper puts forward the theoretical model and hypothesis, which is modified by the pre-research method on the basis of the mature scale, and distributed to the IT industry employees in Tianjin Haitai High-tech Zone. The number of effective questionnaires was 247,and the relevant statistical software was used to analyze the collected data to verify whether the hypothesis was established.Through the consolidation of effective data,it is found that the work pressure of the IT industry knowledge workers in Tianjin Haitai High-tech Zone has a significant negative correlation with the peripheral performance. But there was no significant correlation between the level of promotion stress and peripheral performance. Moreover, the results show that there is a significant negative correlation between work pressure and self-efficacy;self-efficacy is positively correlated with peripheral performance;self-efficacy plays a mediating role between work pressure and peripheral performance;emotional intelligence plays a regulatory role between work pressure and peripheral performance. That is,employees with high emotional intelligence can slow down the negative effects of work pressure on peripheral performance.
