The Relationship Between The Sense Of Place Of Citizens And The Pro-environmental Behavior Intention

The sense of place is a positive emotional connection between the individual and the environment(place),which developed on the basis of subjective understandingandpersonal memory of a particular place.Theoretically,the sense of place may has a direct or indirect effect on the individual's pro-environmental behavior.Exploring the relationship and mechanism of action between thesense of place of urban citizens and the intention of environmental friendly behaviorwill provide a new perspective and theoretical basis for citizens' environmental education.In this study,the relationship between the citizens' pro-environmental behavior intention and the sense of place and environmental psychological factors was studied in Haikou city citizens.The data were collected by questionnaire.ANOVA analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were used to analyze the data.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Strong sense of place of citizens are mainly yong people with 36-45 year olds and middle-aged,high income,locals,and migrants to Haikou more than 20 years of foreign citizens.(2)The level of pro-environmental behavior intention of strong sense of place of citizens are significantly higher than that of other types of citizens.Strong sense of place of citizens are stronger,the specific performance of the recycling of goods,energy saving and low carbon consumption awareness are stronger;green purchase and the implementation intention of payment behavior are higher;more willing to buy environmentally friendly products to protect the environment.(3)Place attachment has a direct and positive impact on the pro-environmental behavior intentions of citizens.The impact of place attachment on pro-environmental behavior intentions is very stable and is not significant due to the introduction of other factors.(4)The interaction of environmental sensitivity and reaction efficacy,environmental attitudes and consequences of consciousness,environmental knowledge for action and environmental sensitivity,have a positively effect on the pro-environmental behavior intention.The reaction efficacy,consequence consciousness and environmental knowledge for action have a moderating effect on the pro-environmental behavior intention.Finally,according to the research results,this paper provides some countermeasures and suggestions for the government and environmental protection organizations to formulate relevant environmental management policies and scientific and reasonable environmental education system for Haikou city citizens.
