Empirical Study On The Relationship Between Energy Consumptionn, Economic Growth And Environmental Pollution Of Shaanxi Province

The economic development of Shaanxi province in recent years is compelling, however,it tends to highly depend on energy consumption, the economic and socia l development ofShaanxi province face the serious challenge of great energy consumption and environmentalpollution. Appropriately mastering the principle of the relation between energy consumption,economy increase and environmental pollution of Shaanxi province is theoretica lly andpractica lly significa nt to provincia lly pla n development formulation, realize energyconservation and emission reduction and promote energy and economy development quick lyand positively.Based on the releva nt domestic and internationa l research, theories about relationbetween energy, economy and environmental is discussed, the status in quo of energyconsumption, economy increase and environmental pollution of Shaanxi province areanalyzed, the relation between them are quantitatively investigated. The principal researchesinclude:(1)The cointegretion model and error correction model about the relation energyconsumption, economy increase and environmental pollution of Shaanxi province areestablished, unilatera l causality exists between GDP and total energy consumption, namely,the increase of GDP accelera tes energy consumption. Meanwhile, the unilatera l causality alsoexists between great energy consumption and waste industria l gas emission, great amount ofenergy consumption causes industria l gas emission, the economy development is the cause ofwaste gas emission. Long-term bala nce between GDP and total energy consumption canpromote the diseq uilibrium of energy consumption in short term to the long-term equilibrium.(2)The reason for the evolution of relationship between energy consumption, economyincrease and environmental pollution of Shaanxi province are analyzed, it indica tes that there are three factors influence the relationship, including: First, provincia l coal-basedconsumption and industry structure highly depend on the energy consumption; Second,secondary industry is the major part of the industry structure; Last, present environmentalprotection measures are not carried out effectively.(3)Finally, constructive advice s are proposed on adjusting energy consumptionstructure, industria l structure optimization, environmental protection improving, increasinginvestment in environment protection, improving resource and environment compensationsystem, etc.
