Sri Lanka is an Indian ocean island country in the south of the south Asian subcontinent,North-grams strait and Indian across the sea,Near the center of the main channel of the Indian ocean,The geostrategic value is very important.The establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sri Lanka since 1957,two countries have a good and stable development in politics,economy,culture,science and technology.China and Sri Lanka have a long friendly history,is a model of friendly relations between Nations.In may 2013,during president Mr rajapaksa's state visit to China,president Xi jin ping and premier Li ke qiang met with president respectively,and the top leaders decided to elevate the bilateral relationship into strategic partnership.It can be foreseen,With the deepening of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries,China's investment in Sri Lanka will be further increased,the area of cooperation between the two countries will be further widened.Therefore,the study of the cooperation between Sri Lanka and China economy not only has a certain theoretical significance but also has a deep practical value.In this paper,the economic cooperation between China and Sri Lanka under the background of " the belt and road initiative ",based on the regional development of Sri Lanka,using the relevant theory of human geography,world economic geography and economic cooperation,Through the literature method,chart method,system analysis,the regional development of Sri Lanka,the current situation of economic cooperation in the background of " the belt and road initiative ",The main areas and key areas of cooperation between the two countries are analyzed and studied.The research shows that the geographical position of Sri Lanka is superior,and in the important node of the construction of the " maritime silk road" in China,plays an important role in the implementation of the " going out" strategy.In may2009,Sri Lanka ended the civil war and entered the period of peaceful development.At present,the domestic macro economic development is good,the legal environment is perfect,the national labor force level is higher,the policy of attracting foreign investment is superior,but its domestic political environment is relatively complex,the ethnic left problem is prominent,which affects the stability of Sri Lanka economic policy.China has developed into the largestcountry of investment in Sri Lanka,the investment in the field mainly concentrated in port,roads,power and industrial park construction,and investment intensity is increasing,the scope is gradually increasing,and gradually deepening.China's investment in Sri Lanka is accompanied by opportunities and challenges,combined with the background and economic development needs of the " the belt and road initiative" in China at this stage.The author recommends that in the next period,China's economic cooperation with Sri Lanka can give priority to four major areas of agriculture,infrastructure,manufacturing and tourism.
