The Position And Role Of The Gwadar Port In The Belt And Road Strategy

Gwadar Port located in the coastal area of Pakistan southwestern Baluchistan province,which is a natural deep-water port,its harbor condition is superior.Therefore,the Gwadar Port's geographical position is superior,and has important strategic significance.Because of its unique strategic position,Gwadar area has been the intersection and the strategic game point of the interests of big powers.With China putting forward "the Belt and Road" strategy and obtaining the Gwadar Port'usage right for 43 years,Gwadar is more remarkable.In this case to study Gwadar's position in "the Belt and Road " strategy has an important significance and function to our country.This paper based on Mackinder Heartland theory and Mahan's "theory of sea power".starting from the geographical location of gwadar port,using the chart method,literature method and analysis and synthesis method,from the view of economic growth,energy security,geopolitical breakthrough,overseas strategic support and the national macro strategic realization to study the Gwadar Port Status and role of "the Belt and Road" strategy.The results show that:In current China it faces the capital and the excess capacity,under the "new normal" of slowing economic growth,construction and operation of Gwadar port just can help China to output its capacity and capital in there,it is a new economic growth point,and it can help "the Belt and Road " 's further development.Chinese west toward Gwadar Port,can not only avoid clash of interests with the United States and other regional powers,at the same time this can also make Gwadar as Chinese south west bridgehead,expand its space of geopolitical strategy in South Asia,and the Gwadar Port combines "the Belt and Road ",which is the best performance of sea power and land the right's combination;Gwadar Port can open Chinese energy security corridor in west,make China more diversified energy channels,improve its energy safety factor,which is a new energy channel,and it can ensure Chinese energy security.Gwadar Port is a potential overseas strategic point,a bridgehead to maintain and expandthe China's overseas interests,and military security for "the Belt and Road" strategy.At the same time,Gwadar Port can play an exemplary role in further establishment of overseas strategic fulcrum.Gwadar Port is a key link of Chinese strategic layout in the Indian Ocean,through the gwadar port can connect the potential base in other countries,and in the end,China can form its macro strategic layout all over the world.
