China is one of the countries with very serious desertification in the world.Up to now,the total land area of desertification has reached 2.62 million km2,occupying 27.4% of the total land area of China. The total land area of desertification due to wind erosion is 1,607,000 km2,most of which is distributed in the semi-arid and arid regions in northwest China..To control desertification, the Chinese government has adopted a series of policies, such as the rational use of water resources, regulation of the relationship between agricultural and forest land, biological sand fixation, sand seeding by aerial seeding, comprehensive small watershed management and ecological forest construction.Among them, the ecological forest zone refers to: the construction of multi-level,multi-species,multi-tone and multi-income ecological forest belts on both sides of the ups and downs of mountains, rivers, lakes and main roads.Ecological forestry belt is a very important landscape resource and ecological protection, and it is the main carrier for the expression of regional image characteristics..The investment and construction of ecological forestry belt could establish a large-scale green buffer zone and a protection zone, and could fully improve the green ecological protection for national forest. In 2015,the municipal government of Wuwei Cityin Gansu Province proposed the strategic construction of ecological forest belt in Wuwei City. The ecological forest belt would be constructed in the south of the boundary between Gansu Province and Inner Mongolia Province to defend sand erosion through the implementation of artificial afforestation and water pipe support. At the same time,a total length of 480 kilometers of sand-control road will be built in the ecological forest belt. The road in Gulang County of Gansu Province in this project starts from the junction of Gulang County and Bayunhuode in Inner Mongolia, and passes through Caoyuanjing,Wangjiadatang,Dahongshatangjing, and the end point is Dalutang. The total route length would be 30.0 Km.Based on the prediction and analysis of the situation of windbreak and sand fixation, traffic conditions, regional economy and living culture,we suggest the following significance for the construction of this road: 1.This project can provide better traffic conditions for the construction of green belts and the transport of tools and materials for windbreak and sand fixation along the road.It could also alleviate the desertification process of key sand drills along the provincial boundary and improve the ecological environment in this area.2.This project could help to improve the traffic capacity, save the traffic cost and time, decrease traffic accident, and save energy.3.Through the demand for people, construction materials and woods during the road construction period, the local industry will be promoted. This project will be beneficial to the economic communications among the villages around Gulang County. In addition, the ecological forest belt is a new and dynamic sense of natural landscape. As a result, the productive and living conditions of people in this area will be improved through the construction of this road.
