Research On Development Of County Economy In Gansu Based On Territorial Differentiation

The concept of ‘County' was put forward in the 16 th National Congress of Communist Party of China at first.Since then,the development of county economy has drawn more and more attention in China.As the basic unit,county economy plays a very important rule in national economy which is related to a key developing point--poverty alleviation during the 13 th Five-Year Plan period.As an important area in Western Development,Gansu Province has a weak county economy and has a long way to go in poverty alleviation.How to promote the development of poor areas with the development of county economy will be one of the developing priorities in 13 th Five-Year in Gansu.Gansu is the only province with three natural areas in our country and the rule of territorial differentiation in Gansu is very notable.Territorial differentiation has a significant impact on the developing of county economy in Gansu.The research on the development of county economy in different regions with different geographical characteristics is meaningful to the development of different counties in the future.This paper uses the theories and methods of regional economics,economic geography,and spatial economics for a reference and bases on the rule of territorial differentiation to have a research on the counties in Gansu Province.Gansu is divided into five regions including Hexi Arid Region,Central Gansu Hilly Area in Loess Plateau,Loess Plateau of East of Liupanshan,Hilly Areas in South of Liupanshan and Gannan Hilly Plateau Areas in this paper.Based on the division,this paper uses Theil T,Moran'I to analyze the characteristic of county economy in Gansu Province and it turns out that during year 2001 to 2015,the total differences of Gansu Province have gone down and the agglomeration is significant.And then,LISA,Getis-Ord Gi* and NICH index has been used.The visualization of these indexes has shown that,the gap between different areas in Gansu in developing of county economy is great and there is a lack of new economic growth pole.In the end,this paper also analyzes the factors that have affected the development of county economy including location,transportation,the resource gift advantage,fundamentals of the economy,the industrial structure,regional policies and religiosity.Some meaningful suggestions have been put forward for Gansu's future development in county economy and poverty alleviation.
