Urban Agglomeration,Technological Externality And City Innovation Performance

Improving the ability of independent innovation will be as the core to enhance the country's competitiveness.Some issues become the hot topics in the study of experts and scholars from all walks of life wide public concern like how to improve the ability of regional independent innovation and how to establish regional innovation system and how to reduce the problem of the difference of regional innovation ability.Theory of Externality,Urban Economics and New Economic Geography consider urban agglomeration and technological externality work together to achieve increasing returns.Therefore,our study is based on the cities in Yangtze river delta,and explore the relationship among urban agglomeration,technological externality and innovation performance,we hope the study can provide some development suggestions to the cities which are in Economic Transition of China.Our study firstly summarizes the related concepts and theory,then we through space measurement methods and classical measurement methods construct econometric model which is about urban agglomeration,technological externality and innovation performance.According to Yangtze River Delta cities of our country for the study,empirical analysis from the two dimensions of static and dynamic spatial panel model,we obtained the following conclusions:1.The strength of research and development has a significant positive effect on the innovation performance.2.Urban agglomeration has a significant positive effect on the innovation performance.3.Knowledge spillover of FDI has a significant positive effect on the innovation performance.Spatial lag variable has a significant positive effect on the innovation performance.It indicates that there is interregional knowledge spillovers in urban innovation activities.In other words,knowledge and technology externality generated by innovation overflow into the surrounding cities.At last,according to the results of empirical research,we proposed some suggestions to urban agglomeration and technological externality.Hope that the government improve the urban innovation performance,so that achieve the transformation of economic development.
