China's Economic Diplomacy In Africa

Since the 21 st century,economic and trade relations between China and Africa in general have been continuously improving.Sino-African economic diplomacy has been upgraded from simple bilateral trade issues to global cooperation on production capacity;from project contracting to investment management;from aid-oriented to sustainable development for aid recipient countries.This thesis uses methods such as literature analysis and historical analysis to explore the developmental achievements of China's economic diplomacy in Africa,and selects Ethiopia as a case study.This particular country is the second most populous country in Africa,with a rapid GDP growth rate,and serves as the location of AU(African Union)headquarters.This thesis is intended to serve as a tentative assessment of the current situation of economic diplomacy between China and Ethiopia,with a careful examination of existing problems,and puts forward some countermeasures.The thesis concludes that,on the basis of adhering to the present policies toward Africa,China should move beyond cooperation in infrastructure projects towards imparting Chinese experience and winning the recognition of African countries and the international community for China's development path,theories and systems.In this way,China and Africa can experience a better,mutually beneficial and win-win shared development.Through study of China's economic diplomacy in Ethiopia,especially the railway infrastructure cooperation between China and Ethiopia,this thesis hopes to strengthen the academic research for China's economic diplomacy in Africa,and help the Chinese government to formulate a more scientific and rational economic diplomacy policy towards Africa.
