The Chinese Economic Diplomacy And Regional Security Cooperation: The Sco Region Case

Economic diplomacy is becoming a frequently used instrument of foreign policy for many countries in the modern system of international relations.Ever since the start of the Reform and Open Policy,China has been actively taking part in the work of different international organizations,and even putting forward new initiatives.All the achievements of China on the global stage is the result of a thoroughly thought foreign policy,and the economic diplomacy is becoming its essential part.The thesis discusses the origins,spheres,principles and perspectives of the Chinese economic diplomacy.The Belt and Road Initiative is a key-project of the Chinese economic diplomacy,that needs a multilateral support and assistance.In such circumstances the Shanghai Cooperation Organization may reveal its advantages using the experience in the security field as a solid basis for the Belt and Road development.At the same time,the Belt and Road Initiative is able to catalyze the work of the SCO,deepen the cooperation within the organization,clarify its functions.Besides,the SCO members conduct their own regional integration projects and seek for the ways to conjugate them.In most of situations security cooperation becomes the point of common interests.This is another dimension of the research.In the paper,the Chinese economic diplomacy is considered as a factor of security of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization region.Author describes the main aspects of the strategic cooperation between China and the SCO.The thesis is divided into three parts:The first part answers the question how the Chinese economic diplomacy catalyzes the security cooperation defines the place of the economic diplomacy within the Chinese foreign policy,describes its characteristics and key projects,interconnection between the economic diplomacy and the security cooperation.The second part discusses how China integrates the economic diplomacy in the canvas of cooperation with the states of the SCO,deals with the achievements of cooperation and potential difficulties of development that the organization faces.The author pays special attention to performance of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure and sees the structure as the basis for the cooperation extension.The third part considers the Belt and Road Initiative as the main newest and biggest project of the Chinese economic diplomacy.The author discusses its potential,the interest among different countries from all over the world and the possibility of the conjugation of the Belt and Road initiative with other integration projects of Russia,in the Central and Southern Asia.
