Concerned About The Spiritual Demand: Research On The Social Work Of Rural "The Elderly With Five Guarantees"

Since reform and opening-up,great changes have taken place in China's economic society,bringing a greater impact to the family supporting in traditional rural areas,which has become a significant issue faced by China rural economic and social development.As the vulnerable group of the elderly,the elderly with Five Guarantees in rural areas have more pension problems to be solved.After the implementation of the new Regulations for rural Five Guarantees Work in 2006,their material demands have been met to a large extent,while,their spiritual demands start to emerge and raise concerns,becoming a commonly existing problem among the elderly group.On the basis of the guarantee of material demands,the respect and satisfaction of the spiritual demands safeguard is directly related to the life quality of the elderly with Five Guarantees.Based on such a realistic problem,under the guidance of the Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and Resilience theory,this research takes L gerocomium for example and focus on the spiritual demands of the elderly with Five Guarantees,according to the “three areas” project supported by the social work professional—social practical work developed by Daozhen Group,which carried out by Department civil affairs of Guizhou Province.Through investigations about previous problems and demand,it is found that their spiritual demands mainly include four aspects,demands for family,interpersonal relationships,entertainment and self-fulfillment.What's more,reasons for generating spiritual demands are analyzed in order to facilitate the carrying out of the social work service activities later as well as goal achievement.Under the guidance of social work theory and methods,abiding by the principles of helping people help themselves and client self-conscientiousness,the specific measure is to provide the elderly with Five Guarantees with specific social work service by applying the methods of case work,group work and community work and combining the L gerocomium with the practical situation of them.Thus,not only can it break and change their dull and boring life model and make them acquire new skills and methods,but also inspire their potentials and exert their advantages.What's more,it can improve their resilience and satisfy their needs for family,interpersonal relationships,entertainment and self-fulfillment,so to enrich the elderly with Five Guarantees' daily and spiritual life in L gerocomium and enhance their life level.
