The question of whether airport construction and operations have a positive impact on regional economics as expected by economists is worth exploring,especially in the rapid development of high-speed rail,the airport as the carrier of the air transport industry.In this study,most domestic scholars take the Granger causality test between the airport throughput and the regional GDP,and the conclusions of airport impact on the regional economy are different.It's hard to produce unbiased and unanimous conclusions using this simple causal regression method without considering the potential endogeneity of the region's economic growth.The article chooses the method that can solve this problem effectively using the PSM-DID based on the propensity score matching method to analyze the nine cities newly added to navigation in,finds out that the establishment and navigation of the airport did not give a boost to local economic growth.In order to explain the reasons of different conclusions from the general regression analysis,the article attempts to analyze from the length of airport construction and investment and the scale of absorption,using Hansen's panel threshold model,selecting all the airports in mainland China which are navigable in as the sample,the operation situation in,and the basic macroeconomic data of the city in which the city is located as the basis of analysis to explore the relationship between the degree of airport operation and the local economic growth.The airport\s operating conditions is divided into three intervals according to the the two thresholds of double threshold by annual workload(smaller scale lworkload ? 13.697,moderate scale operation 13.697? lworkload<16.388 and the larger scale lworkload ?16.388).When the scale of airport operation breaks through the first threshold,the influence to regional economic growth will change from negative to positive,and the larger the scale of operation,the greater the promotion effect to economic growth.The estimation result of the threshold model is the concrete analysis and forecast of the relationship between the airport and the economic growth in China,and the specific suggestions on the layout and operation of the airport arc put forward.Airport construction should be based on the needs of air transport from regional economic development,not only based on regional economic development strategy for the overall planning,but also in line with the local economic situation,with a clear positioning and moderate ahcading.For the smaller scale airports,which arc negatively related to regional economic growth,it is necessary to increase their non-aviation income and feeder routes to improve their profitability.For those airports that have already crossed the first threshold and can promote regional economic growth,it is necessary to actively attract traditional industries and high-tech industries to gather,promote industrial upgrading,and build a multi-circle industrial distribution structure of the airport economic zone,to promote the rapid development of regional economy.
