Design And Implementation Of Data Warehouse Quality Management System In Telecommunications Industry

In the new information age,the telecommunication technologies develop rapidly and the competitions in the telecommunication industry of China are getting more and more intensive.Telecommunication operators have created their own data warehouse so as to improve their core competitiveness,participate in market competitions,and provide powerful supports for performance evaluations and business decisions.Because the data of the data warehouse in telecommunication operators is from different business systems,they are complicated,massive,and varied.Thus,the quality problems of the data inevitably arise when the data warehouse are created.With the increasing of the amount of data,the requirements of the data analysis are progressively improving and the data quality is becoming more and more important.Low quality of data is useless for business decisions,even have opposite effects.How to create accurate and reliable data is one of the most difficult tasks for creation of the data warehouse systems.Based on the actual situations of the telecommunications industry and literatures,this study develops a data quality management system for the data warehouse.The main research contents are as follows:(1)To investigate the associations among the database,metadata,ETL and data quality.(2)To analyze the reasons leading to the data quality problems and formulate corresponding improvement proposals.(3)To develop and validate a data quality management system for a mobile communication corporation of a province.The data quality management system developed in this study has been running online.The system works normally and helps the customer to monitor the complete data processing chain from the source system to report forms,effectively manage the data quality,and rapidly locate the data quality problems.
