Research On Tourism Development Strategy In Bissau City

The tourism industry is considered to be a main factor in economic growth and social development of a country contributing to poverty reduction by creating employment for families,especially on developing country.The tourism industry development potential of a locality is a function of resources but its growth depends on the management ability of the value and the creation of new pull factors.In this sense,this research aims to analyses the potential of Bissau city as tourist destinations,especially cultural tourism and nature tourism.In terms of methodology,a descriptive study was conducted through a interview with 23 key participants.Based on the analyses of the date collected,specially on the SWOT analysis was to evaluate the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and threats in tourism development in Bissau city,capital of Guinea-Bissau.As results,I determined that problems and threats that affects Bissau tourism development such instability,underdeveloped infrastructure,lack of cultural festivals and tourist attractions require attention because tourism could lead a large amount of income.The Bissau city has many opportunity and strengths that should attract tourists,local government and agencies should position notice signs concerning conservation at tourism attractions and promote awareness of recycling among residents.They should also provide education on the value of recycling and encourage recyclable materials;promote country stability.Besides the SWOT analysis,the Case Study of South Africa and Tanzania tourism development methods were to help analysis and find suitable strategies on how to solve those obstacles that affecting on the development of tourism in Bissau city and the whole country.Since the Bissau city and almost the whole country has a big potential to develop both cultural and natural tourism such as,Safari,Resort tourism,Nature tourism combo and so on.As a final conclusion,it appears tourism,especially cultural and nature is considered a strategic element to help Bissau city and the whole country to overcome the great difficulties that affect it.So,I want the government of Guinea-Bissau to support and make an investment of 2.5 billion euro to develop the 10 years tourism development project program with schedule from 2017 till 2027,which are focused on resort tourism and cultural tourism development.And also a new investment of 1 billion for the 5 years tourism development project program with the schedule from 2027 till 2032 focused on Adventure Tourism Combo development and Safari tourism.
