In recent years,as the Arctic climate becomes warmer, the arctic sea is shrinking rapidly. The Arctic has become the "battlefield" where all countries compete for marine resources.Meanwhile, the rapid growth of foreign trade promotes the development of maritime transport and it gives rise to the increasing of shipping demand. In this context, the opening of the Arctic routes not only can solve the growing maritime demand, but also form a new global transportation network which greatly shortens the voyage of ocean shipping between Asia and Europe and brings greater profits to shipping companies. Therefore, the study of the Arctic route has become a hot topic of concern.Starting with the research background, this paper analyzes the current research status of the Arctic ice melting and container shipping network, and then introduces their related theoretical basis. On the one hand,by reciting the Arctic natural environment and the conditions of navigable vessels, the feasibility of opening the Arctic route is analyzed and the different models of Arctic ice melting are summarized. On the other hand,by analyzing the characteristics of container shipping network, this paper expounds the problem of container freight flow distribution and summarizes the model and algorithm.Next, this paper predicts the Arctic sea ice concentration in the future by establishing ice melting prediction model and further confirm the coverage of Arctic sea ice.Based on the forecast results,a model of freight flow distribution for container shipping network is built with the aim of minimizing the total transportation costs. And combined with the demand of containers, this paper designs the virtual arc transportation network, which can solve the flow distribution of both the heavy containers and empty containers. Finally, this paper analyzes the case of the global container shipping network.By collecting relevant data, construct the network of global container shipping network network and use microcity software to realize the optimization and simulation of freight flow distribution model.According to model results, the influence of the opening of the Arctic route and the changes of Arctic ice melting in the future are analyzed.
