The Study On The Core Competence Of Rio Tinto Group And Suggestions For The Development Of Mining Enterprise In China

Mining is the basic industry of heavy industry,fuel industry and machinery manufacturing industry.It serves all aspects of the economy and society,and plays a very important role in promoting the economic and social development.In recent years,with the slow growth of the world economy,the demand for mineral products has been greatly reduced,prices have continued to decline,and Chinese mining companies are in a difficult period of development.Compared to the international leading mining companies,the overall development of China's mining companies lag behind,and their competitive advantages are weak.Therefore,we need to learn from the successful experience of the international leading mineral company to solve the problems faced by China's mining enterprises in the process of development,so as to improve their competitiveness and participate in the global competition.This paper focuses on the core competitiveness of enterprises and studies the core competitiveness of mining companies from the perspective of value chain.The paper first reviewed the core competencies and the value chain theory,expounded the theoretical origins and mutual relations of them,and then taking Rio Tinto mineral company as the research object,introduces the development process,the external environment and the internal environment of Rio Tinto company in detail.At the same time,it compares with China's major mining companies China Minmetals Group and Zijin Mining,and makes a comparison and analyses the development characteristics of mineral company in China and abroad.Finally,based on the value chain,it conducts a comprehensive analysis of the basic activities and supporting activities of Rio Tinto.Thus,Rio Tinto's core competencies are formed.Through the comparison of Chinese and foreign mineral company and the analysis of the core competitiveness of Rio Tinto company,it summarizes the successful development experience of Rio Tinto and the core competitiveness formed in its development process,thus providing some development suggestions for Chinese mining companies to participate in global competition.
