With the development of economy and the expansion of urban scale,the volume of urban road freight has been constantly increasing,which negatively influenced the traffic and environment of the city.The government paid more attention to the management of urban road freight,and pronounced a large amount of freight restriction policies.However,these policies do not fundamentally solve the contradiction between the development of urban road freight and urban development.Therefore,a new idea of urban freight management is to control the negative impact on traffic and environment which brought by urban road freight with urban planning.At the same time,scholars are gradually beginning to realize not only the economic and policy environment can influence urban road freight but also the urban form.Therefore,it is helpful for urban road freight management to determine the influence of urban form on urban road freight.Based on this,this study proposes to explore the impact of urban form on urban road freight through empirical research methods and geography research ideas.First,this paper proposed the influence hypothesis of urban form on urban road freight,after the study of urban form and urban road freight characteristics.Then,the paper designed the empirical research,which included the variables,the data and the model.Finally,the paper verify the influence of urban form on urban road freight the strength and efficiency according to empirical research results.The research result shows that:(1)Spatial aggregation of the city will not affect the strength and efficiency of urban road freight.(2)Density,size and land use of the city will affect the strength of urban road freight.Road freight volume will increase with city density and commercial area.Express volume will increase with the increase of city size and living area.However,the increase of commercial service area will reduce the express volume.(3)Density,size,mixed use of land and land use area of the city will affect the efficiency of urban road freight.The average distance of urban road freight increased with the increase of mixed degree of land use and the decrease of commercial area.The logistics quality score increased with the increase of city density,city size,commercial area and logistics area.(4)In the future,the changing of urban form will only result in the increase of the road freight volume.In some city,the delivery volume will decline.The average transportation distance will slightly decline.The logistics quality score will rise slightly.The above conclusions can provide some theoretical reference for the urban road freight management in various cities.
