Incubator Type, Entrepreneurial Resource Acquisition And Performance In The Incubator: The Role Of Entrepreneurship In The Incubation Of Enterprises

Under the background of mass entrepreneurship and innovation,entrepreneurial activities is being more and more frequent.Business incubator has being paid more attention by government and other people as an institution of entrepreneurial supporting.Meanwhile,the field of incubator is becoming a key point in academic research for all over the world.In reality,startup firms have no idea to choose the suitable incubator for them because of so many kinds of incubators.In academic research,there is not enough theory model to explain the relationship between the different kinds of incubators and performance of incubated enterprises.This study try to research this relationship from the micro perspective of incubated enterprises,the resource-based perspective and theory of entrepreneurial orientation,to build a theory model,revealing the mechanism how different kinds of incubators work on the performance of incubated enterprises.It's meaningful for enriching the incubator's researches,stimulating the innovation of enterprises.Main research work is as follows.(1)Concepts defining and basic theoretical framework proposing.On the basis of analyzing relevant literature systematically,this study defines the concepts of significant variables,such as incubator,incubated enterprise,entrepreneurial resource and entrepreneurial orientation.Divide incubators into three types,enterprise-dominant type,government-dominant type and university-dominant type,to investigate different types of incubators work on acquisition of entrepreneurial resource,then work on performance of incubated enterprises.(2)Research hypothesis and conceptual model are putted forward based on literature research.The empirical results show that:?Acquisition of entrepreneurial resource have mediator regulatory effect on the relationship between incubator type selection and incubated enterprise performance.?Different kinds of incubators have influenced on acquisition of entrepreneurial resource.Startup firms are easier to get venture capital resources in enterprise-dominant incubators,getting politics resources in government-dominant incubators,getting technological resources in university-dominant incubators.?Acquisition of venture capital and technological resources can promote performance of incubated enterprise.? Entrepreneurial orientation has positive regulatory effect on the relationship between incubator type selection and incubated enterprise performance.This study might be useful for examining the effect of incubator type selection and incubated enterprise performance.It can be a meaningful suggestion for policy makers and entrepreneurs when they choose each other.Let the entrepreneurs understand the enterprise characteristic is a key point for venture growing.It is useful for incubator playing a more and more important role in cultivating new ventures and promoting innovation system construction.
