| Coastal areas connect oceans and land.They are the areas where human activities and economic development are most frequent.However,these areas are also most vulnerable to the combined effects of nature and human society,and are extremely fragile ecological environments.An analysis of land-use changes and driving forces in coastal areas will help understand the impact on global environmental change and have important implications for the sustainable development of land resources.Hainan Province is a tropical island province in China.After the establishment of Hainan Province in 1988,the types of land use in coastal areas in Hainan have undergone major changes,such as urban expansion,land reclamation,dredging and building islands,fish farming,and tourism development.These will all lead to changes in the types of land use in coastal areas.At present,there are few articles devoted to exploring the land use and driving forces of Hainan Island’s coastal belt.Based on the land use data of Hainan Island in 1990,2000,2009 and 2015,this study used GIS,RS technology and land use change related model analysis methods to analyze the dynamic changes and driving forces of the land use in the fourth phase of the Hainan Island Coastal Zone.And select typical areas-Sanya City and Haikou City for key analysis.The main findings of this paper are as follows:(1)The land use types in the coastal areas of Hainan Island and Sanya City in 1990 and2000 were mainly cultivated land and forest land.In addition to cultivated land and forest land in 2009 and 2015,the proportion of urban and village land and industrial and mining land increased,respectively.In 1990,5.04%and 2.30%rose to 16.03%and 16.93%in 2015.In 1990,the type of land use in the coastal areas of Haikou City was dominated by cultivated land.The types of land use in 2009 and 2015 were dominated by urban villages,industrial and mining land,forest land and water areas,and water conservancy facilities.(2)In the nearly 30 years from 1990 to 2015 in the coastal areas of Hainan Island,Sanya City and Haikou City,the most obvious land use types were urban villages and industrial and mining land,which were increased from 448.27km~2,62.86km~2,and 109.78km~2 respectively in1990.It is 1484.06km~2,269.59km~2 and 264.07km~2 by 2015.As a whole,the conversion of arable land into urban villages and industrial and mining lands was achieved.The conversion ratios were 17%,26.94%and 32.18%,respectively.The comprehensive index of land use in the coastal belts of Hainan Island,Sanya City,and Haikou City gradually increased from 271.50,249.53,and 285.39 in 1990 to 276.56,277.34,and 306.23 in 2015,and has been in a rising period of development.(3)Among the drivers of land use change in the coastal areas of Hainan Island,socio-economic factors dominate,including demographic changes,government policies,aquaculture development,land reclamation,economic development,and transportation factors.The main driving force influencing land use change in coastal areas of Sanya City is tourism.The main driving forces affecting land use changes in the coastal area of Haikou City are urban development,reclamation and sea port construction.The main innovations in this article are:(1)Analysis of the temporal and spatial changes of land use in the period from 1990 to2015 in the Hainan Island coastal area.A comprehensive analysis was conducted on the types of land use,total area,transformation,and land use change speed and extent on the Hainan Island Coastal Zone.(2)Based on the specific facts of Hainan Island,select typical cities,find statistical yearbook data,select appropriate driving factors,and study their driving forces for land use.By studying the land use changes and driving forces in the coastal areas of Hainan Island,it is conducive to understand the evolution process and characteristics of land use in coastal areas,and to reveal its driving factors,which will provide practical guidance for the sustainable development of land use in Hainan Island. |
